About
Dear Sir/Madam,
I write with reference to the vacancy for Teacher of Business studies and Economics advertised in CV library website.
I am keen to be part of the business department because I would like the opportunity to enthuse young people about the business setup, business management which involves marketing, finance, and operations. I want to be a team player in a school, such as, where student success in learning and achievement is celebrated for each student.
I possess a Postgraduate Certificate in Education - PGCE degree in Business Studies from Sheffield Hallam University, Master’s degree in risk, Disaster and Environmental Management from University of Huddersfield United Kingdom, bachelor’s degree of Economics and Master degree in Agricultural Economics from University of Economics Prague,
Business has always been my favourite subject; it offers the chance to explore the processes that form the world around us. I believe in teaching students to have a strong understanding of practices and processes relating to all areas of business op-erations, from financial management to marketing control of which have proven useful to the business classes I have taught.
I am interested in this position because I want to demonstrate sound classroom practice and innovation, mark and assess work regularly, guarding students throughout to learn skills like management of communicating, teamwork practices, be flexibility as I guide them through.
I will also encourage positive classroom ethos where students are rewarded for their reflection and choices they make, which will encourage them to make academic progress as I plan inclusive lesson that consider their unique learning, social and emotional need.
Whilst on teaching placements, at Hall Cross Academy Doncaster and Highfields School Matlock, and my teaching job at Brunts Academy Mansfield, I taught various strands of the Business National Curriculum at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. In addition I was also involved in A-level teaching at both my Teaching placements.
In my teaching I developed ideas and strategies which includes an exploration of variety of teaching and learning styles, including group and pair work, use of textbooks and open-ended research. An example of this is a research project I conducted with mixed ability year 10 groups.
I also use motivational skills, encouragement, praising the students for their contribution and practice, increasing student participation, fluent in questioning.
Throughout my teaching I have taken the opportunity to develop my own teaching ideas and strategies, especially in line with the literacy and numeracy strands of the Key Stage 3 Strategy. Literacy is especially important in business because it is necessary for students to be able to understand specialist business terminology to fully appreciate the subject. With this premise in mind, I incorporate literacy into my lessons through defining key terms and offering guidance on how to structure reports, essays, understanding examination questions and other work.
I will follow the school’s behaviour learning policy, I will also participate in the school’s programme of continuing professional development. I will develop a good relationship with the students and attend all departmental meetings
I highlight just a few career achievements which I believe reflect my dedication to the teaching profession and my ability to serve as an effective Business Teacher at your institution:
I co-developed business mock examination papers for Year 12 and 13 students at Sheffield College Sheffield as well as Year 10 and 12 at Brunts Academy School
Taught A-level business courses for advanced students at Brunts Academy school, Hall Cross Academy and Highfield School
Being a Business and Economics Teacher has affirmed my belief that education needs to be holistic as well as academic, which is why it is important for me to be able to meet students away from the business classroom where I can assist them in forming their own beliefs, morals, and codes of conduct within the context of existing school policies. I aim to use these beliefs and morals within the classroom to create a safe, secure, and caring environment for all students to work in.
Extra-curricular activities events is a fundamental part of school life I am eager to be involved in because they help to pull the wider community together and consolidate the values of a rounded education. Activities I have experience of and would be prepared to get involved with include football, tennis, badminton, and others.
In my last school I have conducted intervention sessions aimed at students who want to improve their coursework and EAL students struggling with English Language.
Yours sincerely,
Thomas Mbukanma.
