About
I had the privilege of working in various professional roles, after gaining my PhD and to mention my merits, the three awards enrolled me in the ascending employment career: (a)Research Associate, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Govt of India, (b)Principal Investigator, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India, (c)MSCA Fellow, European Union Horizon 2020-MSCA-IF-2019. Each of the successful grants received, showcase my deeper knowledge in scientific literature, understanding of the subject matter and excellent communication skills to portray my complex hypothesis in a compelling manner. The national as well as the international platforms enabled me to navigate through interdisciplinary research, encounter with like-minded professionals to understand the intrinsic complexities and challenges. I have a keen insight in science, while working with eminent scholars who expressed their passion for pushing the boundaries of scientific discovery through presentations and active discussions. I had the opportunity to gain experience and develop my own perspectives in crafting course materials, questions for subjective assessment, conducting exams, evaluating marksheets and delivering multimedia content while teaching a wide range of students including PhDs, postdocs as well as school students. Throughout my career, I had the privilege of mentoring capacities in different roles like, being a guide for PhD students, as part of their course work, in India; a mentor for undergraduates in demonstrating laboratory experiments to gain hands-on-experience and supporting project work, in the UK and scientific mentor to empower science through lectures, for non-scientific audience. I co-taught with other PIs and have dealt with different themes in Life Sciences. My collegial and collaborative positive attitude with other colleagues, helped me to assist, share, discuss and complete responsibilities for the success of the work. I always assured highest standards in teaching and learning, aimed to promote continuous improvement and absolute success in student education. I am particularly passionate about curriculum alignment and practise of assignments, hence focused on understanding the requirements of the students, with constant patience, close interactions and engaging them with different platforms like assignments, teamwork, presentations, news updates etc. I have learnt and practised the use of different online platforms (Teams/Zoom/ Webex/Skype) to make education more accessible and interesting. I have acquired excellent training in IT, Microsoft Office tools (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint) and research strategy development, offered by the University of Dundee. Demonstrated teaching by delivering lectures and practising laboratory experiments for interested young research groups at the University of Dundee, was one among my major engagements during my MSCA career development. I shared my skills and thoughts to undergraduate research fellows and was always eager to answer their queries.
Education and Qualification: I am educated to Doctorate degree in Biotechnology and after my undergraduate degree in Zoology, with Chemistry and Botany as subsidiaries (1999) from the University of Kerala, India, my focus was to learn applied Life Sciences, for the betterment of the society. I worked hard throughout my academics and completed my Master’s degree in Biotechnology (2001) from the Bharathiar University, India. The greatest academic achievement is my current scenario, award of the European Union Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual fellowship (MSCA-IF) and my grant writing, reasoning and critical thinking skills were replicated in this project. I possess strong background in molecular biology with more than 20 years of experience in Life Sciences. I believe my gained experience along with suitable training can build a strong foundation to excel in FE teaching jobs and contribute to the team’s success.
