About
Over the past 12+ years, I have developed a comprehensive skillset in human resources, and my passion for working with people and allowing them to be the best version of themselves has driven my career thus far. I am confident that my expertise and enthusiasm make me a strong fit for any role.
I’m a positive person and believe the glass is definitely half full. I’m very big on family values and friendships, my husband, my daughter and my dog keep me very grounded!
I’m a big believer in autonomy and ownership of successes and bumps in the road alike. I embrace curiosity and my own personal development as well as the coaching and development of colleagues.
I come from a position of working in HR within private sector organisations, including independent, higher and further education, to providing specialist recruitment knowledge for two local authorities. I can demonstrate significant experience as an HR generalist, both standalone and managing a team, having to quickly adapt to both ways of working.
I believe that understanding the intricacies of the organisations I have worked for have allowed me to bring the best version of myself to whatever environment I’m in and allow me to understand exactly how my role supports the business vision, mission, and values.
I have had a significant amount of autonomy in most roles I have worked within. Leading a standalone HR function in a higher education environment for the best part of eight years really allowed me to explore and innovate to work towards best practice, establishing guidance, coaching, and training at all levels on subjects such as recruitment, employee engagement, policy guidance, complex employee relations cases, performance management, employment law, learning and career development.
I’m an experienced HR Leader with a collaborative approach and a passion for driving change. I’m self-motivated, challenge driven individual who thrives on engaging and influencing senior leaders. A strategic thinker organised and solution oriented and apply attention to detail, expertise and knowledge to every challenge.
I have supported seasonal staff, contactors, permanent employees and part time employees with HR advice and guidance, including all of the above. I am very comfortable and confident working solely in this manner or leading a team of Advisors/Assistants.
I will comfortably challenge existing ways of working should there be potential to increase efficiency to a process. However, I’m equally comfortable not ‘reinventing the wheel’!
I’ve worked with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, and I’ve successfully delivered on Organisational development and change projects such as the development of a competency framework for staff and tutors.
I’ve remained up to date with employment law and legislative changes. Facilitating annual policy reviews across the board to ensure staff confidence in published guidance. I have advised SMT’s on major legislative changes such as Home Office updates. I’ve attended many workshops and conferences to discuss changes on law, in person and virtually via Teams and Zoom. I have a passion for EDI and I was on the health and safety committee at ICMP, the disability network and cultural diversity group at the London Borough of Barnet, the EASE network at the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. I was also on the health and safety committee at tp bennett, the Neuro+ and the Guardians groups, ensuring inclusive workspaces.
I’ve fully managed appraisal processes and developed competency frameworks for staff (alongside the one for tutors). I developed measurable processes and coached senior teams, managers, and general staff on the appraisal process. I’ve developed and presented workshops on core skills as part of a competency framework. I’ve also set and managed training and development budgets which also included enhancement activities and workshops. I’ve engaged with external providers and suppliers as part of this.
I have demonstrable experience designing and promoting wellbeing initiatives, including the implementation of a healthcare cash plan supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of the staff.
I am qualified to CIPD Level 3, however was due to start the Level 7 experience assessment a few months after COVID 19 hit. I still plan to complete it as part of my CPD. I honestly believe that my knowledge, skills, and experience offset the fact that I don’t yet have my qualification.
I’m equally enthusiastic about working with a developing team in a growing organisation, or in an already established team in an established organisation. I can turn my hand to many different sectors and have no preference.
My passion is working with people.
