About
I am a highly organized and self-driven individual who is passionate about developing my career in the Accountancy field. I am an ACCA Member, hold a BSc Hons in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University and a Certificate of Trusteeship-Pension Funds.
Currently I am Finance Manager at Walesby Forest, reporting to the Director of Finance and responsible for Management accounts preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, assist with budget preparation, conduct financial performance analysis, internal control processes review.
When I joined we were using Sage 50 cloud professional, but have now migrated to Xero Accounting which gives us more control over automation of processes and integration with the new ApprovalMax system which replaced the manual ordering that was in place when I joined. The ordering system gives more ownership to budget holders for real time expense tracking, automated approval workflows and a readily available audit trail. I also used the migration to Xero as an opportunity to carry out a fixed asset reconciliation exercise and carry forward a clean Fixed Asset register to the new system.
Previously I worked as Management Accountant, my key main areas of focus were cost driver analysis, cost optimisation initiatives, providing financial and commercial analysis to support decision making and strategy formulation, tracking financial performance against budget, performing forecasts and implementing corrective measures, systems and process improvement initiatives and external factors impact assessment and reporting and risk management.
I also worked as Assistant Accountant, responsible for payroll, checking bank reconciliations, preparing multi-currency revaluation journals and assistance with external audit file preparation
I do possess decent IT skills through exposure to Microsoft packages, Pastel partner, Sage Evolution, Sage 50 cloud professional, Xero and Approvalmax.
I was also Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Nyaradzo Life Assurance Co Pension fund, working with Asset managers on investment strategies that would ensure fund growth, value preservation and risk management. The Board was responsible for updating the Investment Policy Statement (IPS) and Risk Management Policy of the fund as well as ensuring the Group Pension Fund rules are kept up to date and in line with regulatory changes.
