Skills
During the Pandemic I facilitated an online women's group where I supported 20 women in weekly sessions which included meditation, mindfulness and journaling workshops; which allowed me to engage within the community through a challenging time.
I am able to communicate well with others, I am an active listener, professional and know the importance of putting people first. I demonstrated whilst studying my degree the ability to utilise my IT skills and have good numeracy and literacy skills. I am able to work as part of a team or independently and demonstrated this in my voluntary work within the charity sector also by providing outreach and commitment to working as part of a team.
About
I strongly believe that the health and well being of a person can play a vital role in people’s lives, I have always admired people that work within the healthcare industry. Growing up as the granddaughter of a midwife, I truly have a high regard for the people that help make a difference in the lives of others. As a people person my desire is to work within a role that allows me to interact with people on a day to day basis and supporting them on their well being journey is important to me. The thought of this vacancy excites me greatly as I long to make a positive impact on other people’s lives and believe that I will gain great job satisfaction from this.
My previous experience of working with a range of people within the charity sector and various work placements have included people with a wide range of health needs, difficulties with communication and vulnerable families. Along with my experience gained throughout my studies, my desire to pursue a career within the mental health profession has grown.
To develop my interest working with individuals, I completed a Counselling skills course. Throughout the course I was able to gain various experience working as a mentor and gaining experience working with children with challenging behaviour. Although it was a challenging position, I found it extremely rewarding and an enjoyable experience. I gained fantastic listening skills, empathy and a deeper desire to commit to studying in more depth.
To further my knowledge and passion for working with people, I studied for my degree in Health and Social Care at University. Studying helped to broaden my understanding of Health and Social care in greater depth and learn about interventions and models utilised. I also studied Health promotion, Housing and homelessness, Ethics, Leadership and management to name a few. My research allowed me examine NHS and governmental policies and interventions in detail and examine how health can have such a large impact on peoples lives.
